To visualise and communicate Castle Point Council’s District Plan 2023–2043 — creating clear, engaging resources to inform the public and support consultation on the area’s future investment and development.
Castle Point Council invited me to tender for this long-term project, which spans multiple stages of the District Plan’s development. My role has been to design and produce accessible, professional materials that bring clarity to complex information and encourage public engagement.
The work began with the Issues & Options Document — a substantial 100 page publication outlining anticipated challenges and proposed plans. This was a key tool for starting conversations and gathering feedback from the community.
July 2025 saw the completion of the “The Regulations – Draft 19” stage — a comprehensive 220 page document. Unlike earlier consultation stages, this draft is reviewed by a government-appointed Planning Inspector, with comments limited to the four tests of soundness (as set out in the NPPF) and legal compliance.
The next stage will be the final Castle Point Plan 2026–2043, scheduled for completion in 2026. Where I will continue to support the Council with design and communication materials, updating visuals and resources as the project evolves.
Designed initial layout concepts aligned with the Council’s brand guidelines, fonts, and colour palettes.
Developed a flexible document template, set copy, and produced bespoke charts, graphs, and infographics to simplify technical data.
Sourced and integrated high-quality imagery to create visually engaging publications for both print and online use.
Delivered two substantial reports (100pp & 220pp), roller banners, a 12-page snapshot booklet and short video to promote awareness and support consultation events.
Produced several supplementary resource documents, ensuring consistency and accessibility across Council and library locations.
Delivered visually clear and accessible documents that supported effective public consultation and constructive feedback.
Helped generate meaningful input for the Council’s planning process.
Established a trusted, ongoing partnership with Castle Point Council, ensuring design consistency across each stage of the Plan.
