Founded in 1999 by Rob Morris out of a genuine passion for piercings, Studio Nine Body Art is a well-established Southend-based studio specialising in a wide range of ear, facial, oral, and body piercings. They are experts in needle and dermal punch techniques, offering advanced services including Daith and Micro-dermal piercings. Having pierced over 71,000 holes, Studio Nine prides itself on creating bespoke, artistic body modifications tailored to each client.
Alongside their piercing services, they retail premium body jewellery made from high-quality medical-grade titanium, ensuring optimum healing. The studio also features three skilled tattoo artists, making it a one-stop destination for all body art needs in the local area.
Despite being an established fixture on Southend High Street, Studio Nine’s marketing efforts were minimal and fragmented, limited to occasional leaflet drops and newspaper adverts.
Rob recognised the need to raise the studio’s profile, unify their brand presence, and expand their communication channels.
With only a logo and a key colour to build on, I advised on a full suite of marketing materials and recommended developing a website with online booking capabilities, alongside a refreshed social media strategy to improve brand consistency and engagement.
Following our consultation, we agreed on a comprehensive marketing suite including:

Using the existing logo and colour assets as a foundation, I refined the logo, introduced a consistent font palette, and developed an asset library including sourced imagery and copywriting support. Starting with print materials, I created a cohesive pack of marketing tools that aligned with the new brand direction.
After further collaboration and research, a booking platform was integrated into the website design, enhancing user experience and streamlining client appointments. The final website is live at

Studio Nine now boasts a polished, consistent brand identity reflected across all marketing touchpoints—from printed collateral to digital channels. The refreshed look and cohesive marketing suite have significantly boosted their profile, drawing positive feedback from existing clients and attracting a steady stream of new business.
